IMAGINE a chicken sandwich with cranberry sauce, moist yogurt cream cake and soft peanut butter pancake – all prepared fresh.
Such mouthwatering delicacies await customers at the newly launched Paris Baguette cafe and bakery at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Founded in South Korea in 1988, the bakehouse now has its first outlet in Malaysia and is eager to leave a good impression on local foodies.
The new outlet, which is decorated in soft hues of blue and white to provide a classy dining atmosphere, is a partnership between Berjaya Food Berhad (BFood) and Paris Baguette Singapore PLC.
BFood Group chief executive officer Datuk Sydney Quays said Paris Baguette products were affordably priced to cater to Malaysians.
“We offer a wide variety of quality food for locals seeking a treat,” he said during a press conference at the launch event.
Quays also revealed plans to open five more outlets at major malls in the country this year, with some RM10mil in capital expenditure being set aside.
“An outlet such as this one in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur costs about RM2mil,” he said.
He, however, stressed that the plans would depend on the economic climate and other factors which the company would review.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who was present at the event, said Paris Baguette’s launch in Malaysia reflected the government’s success in attracting foreign investments.
“I hope that more franchise stores will open in the future, thus offering more job opportunities for locals.
“We will minimise red tape for both Malaysian and international companies to do business here,” he added.
Paris Baguette is an international chain and subsidiary of SPC Group, a leading South Korean food and confectionary conglomerate.
Currently, the brand owns more than 4,000 franchise units globally, including in China, France, Canada and the United States.
Also present at the launch event were South Korea ambassador to Malaysia Yeo Seung-bae and Berjaya Corporation Berhad chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
