The brand ensures that it uses fully sustainable packaging and has switched to cage-free chickens.
Oldtown White Coffee made serious commitments to its sustainability pledges especially after parent firm JDE Peet rolled out its Global Animal Welfare Policy.
Dawn Liew, CEO, Kopitiam Asia Pacific, said the brand’s sustainability commitments are formed around four pillars: responsible sourcing, carbon emissions, animal welfare policy, and packaging waste.
“For our all outlets, we are committed to the same pillars in terms of ESG. It’s in all of our menus as well, that we have fully published it in Malaysia and Singapore, to tell the public what we are also committed to doing. We are using fully sustainable packaging which is recyclable and compostable. At the same time, we are also using cage-free chickens for our soup base as well as some of the toppings in the restaurant when it comes to the protein element,” Dawn explained.
Oldtown White Coffee is still building this initiative, with the major issue in supply chain that will allow them to have substitutes that will check all the boxes for their commitments whilst maintaining the quality for customers.
“We are not there yet, but we are slowly getting there,” Dawn said.
