This serves as a proof of its confidence in the future of Malaysia, he told\u00a0<em>Bernama\u00a0<\/em>after the launch of its joint marketing partnership with F&amp;N Beverages Marketing earlier this week. The deal will see\u00a0<a title=\"McDonald\u2019s and F&amp;N Beverages tie up across 261 outlets\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketing-interactive.com\/mcdonalds-and-fn-beverages-tie-up-across-261-outlets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">100PLUS being served in all McDonald\u2019s restaurants<\/a>\u00a0throughout Malaysia from now on.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<em>Bernama<\/em>, the expansion will also likely create 6,000 more jobs, in addition to McDonald\u2019s Malaysia\u2019s current staff pool totaling 12,000 employees who serve 160 million customers annually. McDonald\u2019s Malaysia confirmed to\u00a0<em>A+M\u00a0<\/em>that last year, it achieved a revenue growth of 16% year-on-year, and expects the growing trend to continue this year under its\u00a0new developmental licensee ownership.<\/p>\n<p>In late 2016, McDonald\u2019s Corp announced the selling of its franchise rights for its restaurants in Singapore and Malaysia to Saudi Arabia\u2019s Lionhorn, as part of its strategic plan in moving to a less capital-intensive franchise model with less direct ownership in Asia. The\u00a0<em>fast-food<\/em>\u00a0chain\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketing-interactive.com\/mcdonalds-malaysia-forking-out-rm1-4-billion-on-10-year-expansion-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transferred its ownership<\/a>\u00a0interest in 390 restaurants, over 80% of which were company-owned, to Lionhorn in December 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Lionhorn is led by Sheik Fahd and Abdulrahman Alireza, who are franchisees for nearly 100 McDonald\u2019s restaurants in the western and southern regions of Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, McDonald\u2019s and the International Olympic Committee (IOC)\u00a0<a title=\"McDonald\u2019s ends Olympics sponsorship deal three years early\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketing-interactive.com\/mcdonalds-ends-olympics-sponsorship-deal-three-years-early\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ended their 41-year old partnership<\/a>, with immediate effect. This was three years ahead of the 2020 Summer Tokyo Olympics.
