McDonald’s Malaysia plans to open 14 to 16 restaurants nationwide this year, said Managing Director and Operating Partner Azmir Jaafar.
He said the fast-food chain had opened nearly 10 restaurants year-to-date.
“In the next five years, we plan to open 20 to 25 outlets annually. We will source our workforce from the McDonald’s apprenticeship programme, which is accredited by the Ministry of Human Resources under the National Dual Training System (SLDN),” he told reporters here today after presenting the group’s corporate social responsibility contribution in conjunction with McDonald’s Community Programme and Ronald McDonald House Charities and in cooperation with the Negeri Sembilan State government.
In addition, Azmir said, a staff exchange programme would be implemented between McDonald’s Malaysia and its overseas counterparts such as McDonald’s in Singapore, Jeddah and Qatar.
“Therefore, job opportunities at McDonald’s are not only available in Malaysia but also in several other countries,” he added.
