Kuala Lumpur, 13th Aug 2024,
The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) is set to introduce several local franchise brands at the Specialised Franchise Business Mission in London on August 15, 2024. The event, hosted at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel, will feature well-known Malaysian brands including Marrybrown, CIC Where Leaders Are Born, Global Art, UCMAS, Little Caliphs, and Q-Dees.
This marks the third mission by the MFA this year, following successful ventures in the Philippines and Indonesia in June. The event is expected to be officiated by Dato’ Sri Suriani binti Dato’ Ahmad, Secretary General of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).
MFA Chairman Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan emphasized the association’s dedication to supporting local franchise entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses both domestically and internationally. Collaborating with KUSKOP and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), the MFA is implementing several initiatives to bolster the Malaysian franchise industry, including the Enhanced Franchise Development Program (EFDP).
“The MFA welcomes the continued collaboration with KUSKOP and Pernas, as well as the consistent efforts to empower the franchise industry. Since our establishment in the early 1990s, we have remained committed to this mission,” said Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan.
In addition to the Specialized Franchise Business Mission, the MFA is also conducting the Franchise Trade Mission program, a key activity under the EFDP. As of December 2023, these initiatives have generated over RM1.73 billion, and the MFA is optimistic that this figure will continue to rise with the implementation of more programs.
Marrybrown, one of the participating franchises, has announced its goal of securing at least RM30 million in investment during this mission. The company plans to offer a master franchise license for 15 years, with a minimum of 20 outlets to be opened within five years. This Specialized Mission aims to identify franchisee targets for business expansion in specific countries.
Global Art representatives view this mission as an excellent opportunity to connect with international partners and enhance global brand awareness. The mission will also provide a platform to showcase Global Art’s innovative approach and gain insights into industry trends and innovations.
Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan expressed gratitude for the government’s support of the franchise industry, highlighting the importance of continued focus in the upcoming 2025 budget. The franchise sector remains a significant contributor to the national economy.
Several companies under Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas) will also participate in the mission. The MFA plans to conduct additional trade missions and specialized franchise business missions to Singapore, Dubai, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia before the year ends.
