PUTRAJAYA: Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek will meet wholesalers next week to collect their input on the prices of goods.
Hasan said his ministry was tasked to maintain the well-being of both consumers and traders.
“We need to maintain the harmony of doing businesses here, but consumers have their rights too to voice their views (on matters pertaining to their welfare).
“For the ministry, we can lower prices for goods that are listed under the price control scheme accordingly. However, the rest will be determined by the market force,” he told reporters.
Hasan added that Malaysia practiced free enterprise and consumers must play their part to nudge traders to lower their prices against the backdrop of cheaper fuel prices.
