The organisers of the 2023 Franchise International Malaysia (FIM 2023) Exhibition and Conference expect a potential franchise investment amounting to RM550 million throughout the programme, which runs from today to May 20.
Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) chairman, Datuk Radzali Hassan, said that MFA, as the co-organiser, was also targeting 15,000 visitors to the exhibition, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), here.
He said that FIM 2023 is a conducive franchise transaction platform for local and international entrepreneurs, with the participation of various franchise brands from the United States, Australia, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.
“In addition to franchise companies, FIM also brings together several related agencies and suppliers to create an integrated franchise ecosystem,” he said when speaking at the launch of FIM 2023.
The event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. It was also attended by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.
Radzali said that FIM 2023 also highlighted several other activities, such as franchise conferences, briefing sessions called franchise pit-stops, edutainment activities and business matching sessions in the Franchise In-Buying Mission (FIBM).
“A business matching session through FIBM, between franchisors and potential investors, was also held yesterday in conjunction with FIM 2023, featuring potential investors from eight countries – India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Maldives and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).“The main objective of the event is to help local franchise brands expand their brands internationally, and to connect directly with foreign investors who have the potential to bring brands to foreign countries,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid, in his speech, said that FIM 2023, co-organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and MFA, also gave franchisors the opportunity to expand their business network at a global level.
“It is also the most effective programme to bring franchisors around the world together, through the sharing of experiences, ideas and knowledge, to improve the development of the Malaysian franchise industry,” he said
