SUNNY Queen has landed in Malaysia, bringing a new dining experience with palate-pleasing Italian cuisine amid fantasy-themed surroundings. Foodies and Instagrammers alike will love its newly opened restaurant at Sunway Pyramid shopping mall in Bandar Sunway, Selangor.
Patrons will be wowed by the cute graphics and dreamy murals all around as well as a 7m-large birdcage as the focal point. Every meal promises to be social media-worthy. Sunny Queen originates from Taiwan and was brought to Malaysia by the Malaysia Delicious Recipe Aroma Group. The outlet took a year to be ready.
Company CEO Ethan Liew said the emphasis was on perfection in taste, paying attention to tiny details and creating vibrant vibes. This, he believes, will not only take customers on a culinary journey, but also give them what he describes as a wonderland experience. Elaborating further, Liew said, Sunny Queen is more than just a restaurant as it is a place where you can eat, play and have fun.
The Italian culinary delights incorporate local ingredients and are adjusted to appeal to local tastes and preferences. The dining area’s decorations and classic-style seats are meant to take diners into a fantasy world and have them reminiscing about their childhood.
Also, one can expect warm Taiwanese hospitality with friendly greetings, interactive communication with service attendants and multinational birthday celebrations. The popular dishes include the tender and juicy Dancing Queen Roasted Chicken which is marinated for up to 24 hours, then cooked till golden brown and served with a unique sauce.
Liew assures that each bite of the signature item offers a thrill of taste and texture, for the roasting process ensures the meat retains its moisture and remains juicy while leaving the skin flavourful and crispy. For an al dente indulgence, he recommends the Creamy Shrimp and Roe Pasta, made with creamy white sauce, ebiko and preserved pollock.
The Truffles Parmesan Cheese Risotto also presses all the right buttons. Spotlighting the black diamonds of the earth, it is enlivened by the sharp aged cheese and earthiness of mixed mushrooms.
Locals accustomed to rice will find the risotto’s flavour rather unique, thanks to the distinct grains that are slightly chewy yet tender. Sunny Lu, vice-president of Taiwan’s Chien Yen Group that holds the Sunny Queen franchise, said they saw Malaysia as an important overseas market.
This follows Delicious Recipe Aroma’s successful launch of Chun Ciou Hot Pot, another sub-brand under Chien Yen, in 2016.
“We place great importance on the first Sunny Queen outlet in Malaysia.
“Now, we are even sending our chef, operations, education and marketing team to Taiwan to duplicate the success there and set off an Italian trend here,” said Lu.
