The draft National Franchise Policy (DFN) 2030 is now in the final stages of discussion and is expected to be presented at the Cabinet meeting next January, said Acting Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
Speaking to reporters after officiating the National Franchise Policy Engagement Session here today which was attended by more than 200 industry players, he said today’s session was the last one before the presentation of the draft.
“Even at the final stage, all industry players in the franchise sector can still submit their views to improve the policy,“ he said.
The DFN is targeted to be launched in the first quarter of next year.
According to him, DFN 2030 has set a sales target value of RM100 billion by 2030 to ensure that Malaysian franchise products are successful in the international market and also to introduce local franchise brands in many countries.
“The DFN will outline a clearer direction for the franchise industry to develop more holistically and make it one of the main contributors to the country’s economic sustainability, in line with the goal of Madani Economy to boost Malaysia as an economic leader in the Southeast Asian region,“ he said.
