KUALA LUMPUR, 6 March 2019,
Two local franchise brands — The Manhattan Fish Market and MarryBrown — have entered the Japan market ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, says the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA).
Association chairman Datuk Razali Hassan said the two franchises began operations in the third quarter (Q3) of last year and MFA, together with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), are actively promoting Malaysian franchises worldwide.
“We now have 66 local franchises that have penetrated the markets of 65 countries, and we target the number of franchises to reach 80 this year,” he said at a media conference today.
MFA is also targeting sales of RM400 million at the 2019 Franchise International Malaysia (FIM) exhibition and conference, organised by the ministry and the association and to be held from April 5 to 7.
“To date, 12 countries have confirmed their participation at FIM2019, and over 100 local and international franchises will be involved,” he said.
The countries include the United States, Italy, Australia, the United Kingdom and South Korea, while local franchises include The Manhattan Fish Market, MarryBrown and Tealive.
